Did you know...

So here is a history lesson for you.  Do you know what makes this photo of Lincoln's second inaugural address so different than any other inaugural photo?  Take a close look at it.
I'll give you a hint it was right at the end of the civil war.  And a certain actor was there who had a plan?  Now take a look at this zoomed in picture I took at the Lincoln exhibit at the American History Smithsonian.

That's John Wilkes Booth who later assassinated  Lincoln on April 14th, 1865.  Today I'm going to a class on Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., and Barack Obama.  I'm looking forward to learning about these 3 men and how they have and will change the world!  When I get back tonight I'm going to blog about a great man that I had dinner with last night.  He is a true American hero and I can't wait to share his story with all of you!  So stay posted...

  1. Thanks for the picture - wow! Booth was right there when Lincoln was inaugurated. I wonder if he had the plan in place then to kill the president? Or did he decide later?
I've been reading the news about all the events going on in DC and am so excited for you to be in the midst of it all! The concert must've been AWESOME! My Girl Sheryl Crow was there (second only to My Girl Stephenie Meyer!)-I'm jealous!
BUT...are you freezing to death? You look plenty bundled-up, but still it looks mighty chilly.
Have a great day and THANKS so much for the photos and thoughts - hope to see lots more tonight!

  2. You rock. Thanks for the history lesson. Did Booth ever discuss his motives? I know very little about the surrounding history of the assassination. Hmm...time to google it. :-)

I'm also anxious to hear about this man you met last night...don't keep me hanging too long.

  4. Wow... Creepy...

    How could you do it,Johnny,
    Calling it a cause?
    You left a legacy
    Of butchery
    And treason we
    Took eagerly,
    And thought you'd get applause.

But traitors just get jeers and boos,
    Not visits to their graves,
While Lincoln, who got mixed reviews,
Beacause of you, John, now gets only raves.
